The Russian government has increased the amount of special payments for doctors who work in small towns. In villages and towns with a population of less than 50 thousand people, the maximum payment amount will increase to 50 thousand rubles. for doctors and up to 30 thousand rubles. for middle staff. In areas with a population of 50 thousand to 100 thousand people, the amount of payments will increase to 29 thousand and 13 thousand rubles. accordingly, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“The funds are prescribed from March 1, for the current month doctors will receive them in April. In general, this will affect more than 200 thousand employees of hospitals and clinics,” he said (quoted by website government).

Mr. Mishustin added that from April 1, at least 50% of the wage funds of medical organizations will be allocated to pay the salaries of medical workers. The salaries themselves should remain no lower than last year’s level.

With a proposal to increase payments to health workers from small localities spoke Russian President Vladimir Putin during the plenary session of the Future Technologies forum. Additional payments for medical workers were introduced at the end of 2022. In total, the payments affected about 1 million medical workers.

According to a survey conducted by the professional service Aktion Medicine, the majority of doctors in Russia believe that increasing salaries and assistance with housing will help stop the outflow of personnel from the medical field.
