The abnormal heat that the European part of Russia has faced has led to a significant increase in the load on the power grid complex. About it declared Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during the launch of the Pakhra power grid substation in the Moscow region after reconstruction.
“We have a very large territory. And in some areas, a difficult situation remains, which is often complicated by abnormal weather. Like this summer, when the European part of Russia faced extremely high air temperatures, which significantly increased the load on the power grid,” the prime minister said, quoted by the government press service.
The state of affairs in the North Caucasus and Far Eastern federal districts remains under special control, and in the new regions of the Russian Federation, many infrastructure facilities still have to be restored, Mishustin added.
As specified in the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, the 500 kV Pakhra substation provides power supply to six urban districts of the Moscow region with a population of 1.4 million people, Domodedovo airport, VK data center, etc.
In early August, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand predicted extreme heat in 10 regions of Russia. In particular, he warned of an increase in temperature in the Krasnodar Territory to 39-40 degrees Celsius. The leading specialist of the Phobos Center, Mikhail Leus, also said that August 6 was the hottest day in Moscow since the beginning of 2023, the air temperature exceeded 31 degrees.
