Mirziyoyev wins presidential elections in Uzbekistan

The current President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to preliminary data, wins the presidential election with 87.05% of the vote. This was announced by the chairman of the CEC of the republic Zainiddin Nizamkhodzhaev, transmits TASS.

Mirziyoyev is considered the elected head of Uzbekistan, as he scored 50% or more. According to the agency, the turnout in the elections was 79.8% (15.6 million citizens of the country voted).

He is followed by the candidate from the Social Democratic Party “Adolat” (“Justice”), the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Court Robakhon Makhmudova with 4.43% of the vote. The third line is occupied by the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (NDPU) Ulugbek Inoyatov with 4.02%. The leader of the Ecological Party, Abdushukur Khamzaev, has 3.74% of the vote.

The presidential elections in Uzbekistan were held ahead of schedule on July 9. Already by 11:00 elections recognized held, since the turnout exceeded the required threshold and amounted to 33.54%. Voting ended at 20:00 (18:00 Moscow time) on the same day.

Observers from the CEC of Russia had no comments on the conduct of the elections. How noted Deputy Chairman of the CEC Nikolay Bulaev, during the voting, a system of electronic control over visits to polling stations was used, which “makes it possible to exclude double voting.” The Russian CEC reported that 797 people from 47 states and 15 international organizations were accredited as election observers.

In May, the Constitution of Uzbekistan was amended, according to which Mirziyoyev received the right to run for this post twice more. If he wins the current and future elections, he will be able to lead the country until 2037. His mandate before the amendments expired in 2026. In 2021, Mirziyoyev won the presidential election with 80.31% of the vote, with a turnout of 80.04%.
