The head of the Just Russia – For Truth party, Sergei Mironov, said that the case of State Duma deputy Vadim Belousov was taken to court without her consent. According to him, this violates the law on the status of a deputy. Mironov told TASS about this.
“Yes, Belousov’s immunity was lifted at the end of 2018. However, the case was brought to court without the consent of the State Duma. And this is a direct violation of the federal law “On the status of a senator of the Russian Federation and the status of a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.” Let me remind you that, according to Article 5 of this law, a criminal case cannot be brought to court without the consent of the relevant chamber of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. This was not done here,” he said.
Mr. Mironov expressed his indignation at the “unfair attitude of law enforcement agencies to this case.”
“Belousov in 2021 became a deputy of the State Duma of the eighth convocation. This implies the obligatory submission of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation to the State Duma on the deprivation of Belousov’s parliamentary immunity and the corresponding consent of the Duma. This was also not done,” said the head of the Social Revolutionaries, adding that “the violations of criminal procedure committed cast doubt on the validity of the accusations against Belousov.”
