An Egyptian refugee died because of the bullying of the Polish security forces, a man died after he was “thrown out” on Belarusian territory, informs press service of the State Border Committee of Belarus.

The incident on the Polish-Belarusian border occurred on the morning of August 5. According to the State Border Committee, the Polish security forces once again forced out two refugees – citizens of Syria and Egypt. The men, according to the Syrian, were detained on the other side of the border, his friend needed medical attention and was “extremely exhausted.”

“Ignoring the critical condition of the Egyptian, the Polish security forces continued to mock and beat the men, took away their belongings and money. Then, with the use of gas cartridges, they forced the foreigners to pass through the barrier,” the committee said in a statement.

According to the refugee, he managed to carry his comrade “several tens of meters” in an unconscious state, but the man died. The Polish authorities do not stop the “policy of genocide” against refugees from the East, taking advantage of the “blindness and deafness” of international human rights organizations, the border committee stressed.

In 2021, several countries bordering Belarus (Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) at once announced an unprecedented influx of illegal migrants from the territory of the republic. The EU accused Minsk of organizing illegal migration channels in order to force the EU to lift sanctions from the republic. In the summer of 2022, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced a weakening of control over the flow of illegal immigrants due to European sanctions: according to him, Minsk has “neither the money nor the strength” to restrain refugees who arrive in the country legally.
