The possibility of constructive cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Russia to create an independent center of power on the continent has been lost for decades, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.
“As a result of the political machinations of the United States and Great Britain, the opportunity for constructive cooperation with the participation of Russia in order to form an independent center of forces on the European continent has been lost for the coming decades,” – leads his words TASS.
Earlier in April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow considers The European Union as an unfriendly association that “lost” Russia because of its actions. He explained this by saying that the EU is pumping weapons to Ukraine, and also sending instructors and mercenaries to the country. He added that in response to the actions of the EU, Moscow will act “toughly if necessary”, as well as be guided by the “principle of reciprocity” and the norms enshrined in the new concept of the country’s foreign policy.
At the end of March, Russian President Vladimir Putin was approved new concept of Russian foreign policy. According to the document, Russia does not consider itself an enemy of the West, is not isolated from it and has no hostile intentions. At the same time, Moscow is counting on Western countries realizing the futility of confrontation with Russia, accepting multipolar realities, and eventually returning to interaction based on the principles of sovereign equality and respect for interests.
In March 2022, in response to anti-Russian sanctions, the government of the Russian Federation approved a list of unfriendly countries, which included all EU member states.
