The Finnish Ambassador to Moscow, Antti Helanterä, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry and was informed of the termination of the agreement on cross-border cooperation. About it reported in the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The head of the diplomatic mission was told that among the responses to Finland’s confrontational actions towards Russia, including the severance of trade, economic and interregional ties, direct contacts between citizens, as well as discrimination against Russians on the basis of national origin in matters of issuing entry visas, the Russian side adopted decision to terminate the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Finland on promoting cross-border cooperation,” the statement said.

It is clarified that the Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassador on October 25. The cross-border cooperation agreement will terminate on January 24, 2024.

October 20, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed order to terminate the agreement between Russia and Finland on cross-border cooperation. By the same order, he instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to notify the Finnish side about this.

An agreement on cross-border cooperation between Russia and Finland was signed on April 13, 2012.
