Ministry of Finance: suspension of indexation of civil servants’ salaries will not affect the military

The bill on suspending the indexation of civil servants’ salaries does not apply to military personnel and law enforcement officers, the Ministry of Finance said.
“The bill to suspend the indexation of civil servants’ salaries until January 1, 2025 does not apply to military personnel and law enforcement officers. The issue of indexation of salaries of these categories will be considered separately,” the department reported (quote according to TASS).
October 25 State Duma accepted in the first reading, a bill on skipping the indexation by 4.5% in 2024 of the salaries of civil servants, judges, assistants to deputies and senators, police officers, as well as military personnel and persons equivalent to them.
According to the explanatory note, the bill is aimed at ensuring the possibility of unconditional fulfillment in 2024 of all obligations accepted in Russia, established by federal laws and other regulatory legal acts. An exception will be made when indexing wages for public sector workers.
The State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation believes that when preparing the draft for the second reading, it is worth discussing the possibility of eliminating the provisions on suspending the indexation of military salaries, it follows from the conclusion.
