Ministry of Defense: Ukraine and the United States are silent about joint military-biological activities

Near the Russian border in Ukraine, biological weapons components were being developed, according to documents found in Ukrainian biological laboratories. About it at the briefing declared Lieutenant-General Igor Kirillov, Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the RF Armed Forces, the press service of the Defense Ministry reports.

During the military special operation in Ukraine, the department recalled, it became known about the implementation of the military biological programs of the Pentagon in Ukraine.

“Analysis of documents found in Ukrainian biological laboratories gives grounds to assert that biological weapons components were being developed in the immediate vicinity of the Russian borders. This is confirmed by work contracts, approved registration cards, reporting documentation of Pentagon contractors – Black and Vich, Metabiota,” Kirillov said.

He also stated that the nomenclature of the studied pathogens “is in no way connected with the problems that are relevant to the healthcare of Ukraine,” and the emphasis was on studies of natural focal and especially dangerous infections, which are considered as potential agents of biological weapons. In particular, the goal of the Tep-2 project was to study the pathogen of glanders (an infectious disease of whole-hoofed animals), the cases of which have never been recorded in the country, according to the defense department. Under Washington’s control, Kyiv is also testing infectious agents and toxic substances on military personnel and the mentally ill, the ministry said.

The Ministry of Defense is also aware of studies under which Ukraine was ordered to report “… minor incidents with volunteers to the US Bioethics Committee within 72 hours after the incident, and serious ones, including the death of the subjects, within 24 hours.”

“At the same time, in international reporting through the BTWC, the United States and Ukraine deliberately keep silent about joint activities, despite its obvious military-biological orientation,” the ministry said.

At the end of March, the Ministry of Defense published a list of persons who took part in the creation of biological weapons components on the territory of Ukraine. As Kirillov reported, one of the key figures is Robert Pope, an employee of the US Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Administration (DTRA) and director of the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program (also known as the Nunn-Lugar program). In September, the Ministry of Defense reportedthat the United States actually recognized the conduct of biological research on a number of Ukrainians, including low-income citizens and patients in psychiatric hospitals.
