The Ministry of Defense noted that when the MiG-31 approached, the Norwegian plane turned away from the Russian border. The department added that the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense reported about the approach of the P-8A Poseidon aircraft to the Russian border on October 6. The plane belonged to the US Navy at the time. A MiG-31 fighter was scrambled to escort them. The Ministry of Defense noted that when the Russian fighter approached, the American plane turned around and the state border was not violated.

In addition, on October 19, the Ministry of Defense reported about the approach of a radio reconnaissance aircraft and two Typhoon fighters of the British Air Force to the border with Russia. After identifying the targets, two Russian Su-27 fighters were scrambled to identify them, which identified the British aircraft.
