Minister of Transport spoke about plans to repair roads in new regions

In 2023, in the new regions of Russia, it is planned to carry out a major overhaul of 761 km of roads and 26 artificial structures on them, reported at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev. Almost 75 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes, he specified.

“A few words on the restoration of the transport infrastructure of the new regions of our country are the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, which we talked about, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Last year, 594 kilometers of roads were overhauled, and 6.5 million square meters of pavement were laid. This year we are planning 761 kilometers. 16 objects last year were artificial structures, this year we will also build 26 objects,” Savelyev said.

As the Minister of Transport noted, “We have money.” Last year, 53 billion rubles were spent on road repairs in new regions, this year – almost 75 billion rubles, “and we are performing work in approximately the same amount in 2024 and 2025,” Savelyev added.

June 1, Acting Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin reportedthat Rosavtodor and the DPR signed a memorandum on a five-year road development plan.

Until 2027, at least 85% of the roads of the core network must be brought to a standard condition. By 2025, 6,289.9 km of public roads of regional or intermunicipal significance and 1,536.6 km of local roads, etc., will be maintained.

This spring, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin declaredthat the restoration of regional routes in the new subjects of Russia – the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions – will take three years.

On September 30, 2022, Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the annexation of the regions to Russia. Putin stressed that residents of the annexed territories “become citizens of the Russian Federation forever”
