Military spending by NATO countries will grow by 13% in 2023 and approach $1.3 trillion. The countries of the so-called cordon sanitaire around Russia will increase them by 60%, follows from the assessment of Vedomosti.
US President Joe Biden should soon sign the country’s military budget for 2023 in the amount of $858 billion. Military spending of all NATO countries will increase in 2023 by 12.7% and reach $1.34 trillion, Vedomosti calculated based on military estimates and official statements of officials of the countries of the alliance. Against the general background, the states of the so-called cordon sanitaire around Russia stand out, which have doubled their spending in eight years, and in 2023 they plan to increase them by another 60%.
The US military budget for 2023 was approved by Congress in the amount of $858 billion. In December 2021, $768 billion was allocated for these expenses, i.e. an increase of almost $90 billion (+11.7%). In March, the Biden administration proposed spending $773 billion on defense next year, but the budget ended up growing significantly.
