The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, during a recent blitz visit to Kyiv by Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin, asked him for 17 million shells for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ukrayinska Pravda publication. In response, the American general said that there was not so much ammunition in the whole world. Experts assessed the absurdity of Kyiv’s “wish lists” and the possible timing of such deliveries.
Reserve Colonel Eduard Basurin called Zaluzhny’s request an appeal to Santa Claus. Military expert Ilya Kramnik also appreciated Zaluzhny’s idea. According to him, the requested amount of artillery ammunition really reflects the “scale of the conflict.” “This much is needed to obtain sufficient salvo weight for serious offensive actions over a long period of time,” Kramnik noted. True, according to him, “it is absolutely not a fact that this will be enough.”
Well, and most importantly, Kyiv’s demands are at odds with the capabilities of the Western military-industrial complex. Just the other day, EU leaders were forced to admit that they are not able to give Ukraine the promised million ammunition. So far, only a third of the specified amount has been collected.
According to Kramnik, the collective West, with its combined efforts, will collect 17 million shells within ten years.
“And it takes a year or two,” he notes. – After three – it’s not the same, it’s smeared, concentration won’t work, superiority won’t be ensured. But in the next three years (until the end of 2027) they (AFU. – “MK”) maximum in caliber 105-122-152-155 mm will give a couple of million rounds, excluding tank 105/120/125 mm.”
