Mikhalkov called for the closure of the Yeltsin Center – Kommersant

Director Nikita Mikhalkov again criticized the activities of the Yeltsin Center. This time – because of the animated film about history. He called for the closure of the museum.

Mr. Mikhalkov complained that the first thing children see when they come to the Yeltsin Center is “this is a terrifying historical animated film about the history of our country, where all the dirt, abomination, betrayal, slavery, horror and light in the window is only a single person who came and it all changed.” He said this during the XI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

The director believes that the Cultural Front, a movement founded in the fall of 2022, should close the Yeltsin Center. “The Cultural Front was created, cultural figures entered it, and there are already its branches in many regions of the country. Probably, there will be a budget for this fund. I don’t understand what it is. A cultural fund has been created and let them perform one task – to close the Yeltsin Center, if this is done, then I will understand that its existence is necessary, ”said Mr. Mikhalkov (quoted from “RIA News”).

At the same time, the director is not against the existence of a museum of the first president of Russia in the country. He doesn’t want to be made to believe “that the whole history of my country is ‘abomination and shit’ and only the holy nineties made me so happy.”

Nikita Mikhalkov has previously repeatedly criticized the Yeltsin Center. In particular, this happened at the last International Legal Forum.
