Microsoft can no longer accept payments to a local bank account as payment for its services in Russia. “Therefore, by providing you with 60 days’ notice, Microsoft hereby notifies you that after September 30, 2023 (effective date), you will no longer be able to renew your existing subscriptions,” the statement said.
Active subscriptions will run until the end of the remaining term. In the future, they will not be extended, the letter says.
Microsoft stopped sales of new products in Russia in 2022 after the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. Kommersant wrote that Russian representative offices of international companies and legal entities that did not fall under sanctions had previously received proposals to renew the license for the corporation’s software.
