Corporation Microsoft said that from October 1 it will sell Microsoft 365 and Office 365 packages without Teams corporate messenger. The company said that this is due to the investigation of the European Commission and its requirements for Microsoft. In addition, the corporation promised to simplify the work of third-party messengers with Office products. The new version will be addressed to business customers from the European Economic Area and Switzerland.
Back in 2020, another corporate messenger, Slack, owned by Salesforce, filed a complaint against Microsoft. In his opinion, the company abused its dominant position in the market and imposed Teams on its business customers. In July, the European Commission officially start antitrust investigation against Microsoft.
It was reported that the corporation offered to reduce the price of versions of Microsoft 365 and Office 365 without Teams, but the European Commission demanded a more significant reduction. Now, by removing Teams from the subscription, Microsoft has lowered its price by €2 per month. At the same time, customers will still be able to buy a Teams subscription additionally for €5 per month.
