Mexico is ready to participate in negotiations in Saudi Arabia on a settlement in Ukraine, if both sides of the conflict participate in them, declared President of the country Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador RIA Novosti. Earlier it became known that Russia is not planned to be invited to this summit.
“If both Ukraine and Russia agree to seek a solution to achieve peace, we will take part … If two countries are represented, yes,” he said.
At the same time, the president stressed that Mexico is in favor of any proposal aimed at ending hostilities.
On July 29, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported on Saudi Arabia’s plans to hold peace talks on Ukraine without Russia’s participation. According to the publication, the meeting will be held from 5 to 6 August in Jeddah. It will be attended by the UK, the EU, Poland and South Africa. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is also expected to arrive.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated Vedomosti that if the talks in Saudi Arabia on Ukraine help the West “understand the whole dead end of the“ Zelensky plan ”, then they will not be useless.
