US sanctions against Russia have failed. This statement was made by a member of the US House of Representatives Marjorie Taylor-Green (Republican from Georgia).
“America has already sent $113 billion and continues to allocate $1 billion every month to the government of Ukraine, besides [президент США Джо] Biden wants [направить] another $20 billion. Meanwhile, Russia is getting richer and America is getting trillions poorer! US sanctions have failed,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), urging them to stop allocating money to Ukraine.
Taylor-Green made this statement against the background of the publication of a report by the Swiss bank UBS, according to which in 2022 the total private wealth of Russia increased by $600 billion, while the United States decreased by $5.9 trillion.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. In response, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against the Russian Federation and began to provide military and financial assistance to Ukraine.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly noted the failure of anti-Russian restrictions and pointed to the damage caused by sanctions to US and EU citizens. During his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the West’s calculation to destroy the Russian economy with the help of sanctions did not materialize. According to him, the economy and the system of government of the Russian Federation turned out to be “much stronger than they believed in the West.”
