Meloni: G7 leaders will meet in Italy in 2024

The meeting of the G7 leaders may take place in Italian Puglia in 2024, Italian Prime Minister George Meloni announced this.
“I was able to present our ideas for next year. I announced that the summit will be held in mid-June. We are waiting for the date of the European elections <...> we will be able to hold the G7 immediately after,” the prime minister said at a press conference (quote according to RIA Novosti).
On May 19, a three-day summit of the heads of the G7 countries opened in Hiroshima (Japan). The summit focused on the issue of further support for Ukraine, as well as issues of economic security and climate protection.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declaredthat the decisions taken at the G7 summit in Hiroshima are aimed at containing Russia and China. According to the minister, Western countries set themselves the task of defeating Russia not only on the battlefield, but also eliminating it as a geopolitical competitor.
According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, the Big Seven “completely lost its authority.” She noted that now the G7 members are engaged in “drawing” dividing lines in international relations, trying to impose their will on others and coordinating pressure on “undesirable countries.”
