The foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey and Syria may meet in Moscow from January 14 to 16, informs Hürriyet newspaper, citing sources.
The interlocutors of the publication noted that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will return to Turkey on January 14 after his working trip to Africa. Then the diplomat can go to Moscow until 16 January.
On the eve of the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the trilateral meeting getting ready and will be held in Moscow, but the date has not yet been finally determined. The ministry added that they are waiting for confirmation on specific dates from colleagues from Turkey and Syria.
At the end of December 2022, the Russian Foreign Ministry also reported that the head of the department, Sergei Lavrov, and his counterpart from Turkey discussed by phone the settlement of the Syrian crisis and plans for cooperation for the next year.
In 2019, Russia and Turkey agreed on the withdrawal of Kurdish formations from the border areas, as well as joint patrols in this zone. The areas adjacent to the zone inhabited by Kurds de jure came under the control of the Moscow-allied Syrian government in Damascus, in a number of important points for the first time since 2012, units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) appeared, but in fact control over the situation has since been carried out by the military police of Russia.
