Medvedev urged to increase the production of weapons in Russia

Russia should increase the production of various types of weapons and military equipment, including modern tanks, declared Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

“Yesterday, as you know, our enemy begged for planes, missiles, tanks, while abroad. What we should do in response: it is clear that in this case it is natural for us to increase the production of various types of weapons and military equipment, including modern tanks. We are talking about the production and modernization of thousands of tanks,” Medvedev said at a meeting during his visit to the Omsk transport engineering plant.

He noted that this task follows from the state defense order and decisions made by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met the day before, on February 8. British premier declaredthat he discussed with the Ukrainian president the possibility of introducing fighter jets to Kyiv. In addition, they discussed providing Ukraine with even more long-range weapons, including missiles. Today, February 9, Zelensky spoke at the Council of Europe and again urged European countries to provide modern weapons to Kyiv as assistance, RIA Novosti reported.

Former Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin declaredthat the UK plans to send to Kyiv. more long-range systems will further escalate the conflict in Ukraine. The special military operation began on February 24, 2022.
