Medvedev thanked Carlsberg for investments “working for Russia”

The Danish holding Carlsberg Group independently decided to leave Russia and thought that this decision would not affect it. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

“Thank you for the investments that are now working for Russia, filling its budget. A strong budget means help for the front. In this regard, the senseless Danes are also making their contribution to modern Russian weapons,” wrote he is on his Telegram channel.

According to Medvedev, Carlsberg was “offended” that its share was temporarily transferred to the management of the Russian state. By abandoning the Russian market, the company hoped that its business would not be touched or “will be sold at a profit,” the politician noted. Medvedev stressed that he will not see money for Carlsberg’s assets.

October 31 Carlsberg in its report for the third quarter announced on the write-off of assets associated with Baltika. The general director of the Danish holding Carlsberg Group, Jakob Aarup-Andersen, said that ties with the Russian brewing company of the holding were severed, and any deal with the Russian authorities that would “justify the illegal takeover of the business” is impossible.

The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation emphasized that Baltika is not owned by the Russian state. The department explained that the introduction of temporary management does not mean a change in the ownership structure.

In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the transfer of shares belonging to Carlsberg Group structures to temporary state management. On July 18, it became known that Taimuraz Bolloev, who led the company from 1991 to 2004, was appointed president of Baltika. After that, he joined the Carlsberg Group reportedthat the change of management occurred without the knowledge and approval of the holding.

October 4 Danish holding reported, which notified Baltika of the termination of licensing agreements for the production and sale of products under the group’s international and regional brands. Later “Baltika” achieved an injunction for Carlsberg to terminate its licensing agreements.
