Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev on Monday, June 12, posted a post on his Twitter account in connection with the death of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, whom he had met personally several times.

The Russian politician said goodbye to Berlusconi in his native language, writing “Piangiamo con lei, Italia. Silvio era il tuo patriota. Ci ricorderemo di te!”, which translated into Russian means “We cry with you, Italy. Silvio was yours Patriot We will remember you!

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, expressing condolences on the death of Berlusconi, called him patriarch of Italian politics and stated that Berlusconi was a patriot and put the interests of his country above all else, having done a lot to strengthen its international position.

Italy’s current prime minister, George Meloni, said her longtime ally was “First and foremost a wrestler”.

Berlusconi’s state funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14.
