Medvedev recalled the reasons for the use of nuclear weapons by Russia

The military doctrine of Russia provides four grounds for the use of nuclear weapons, recalled Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation in interview French channel LCI. Mr. Medvedev specified that “there are no reasons for the use of these weapons” so far.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation referred to paragraph 19 decree on the Fundamentals of State Policy in the Field of Nuclear Deterrence, adopted by Vladimir Putin in June 2020. “Launching nuclear missiles, using nuclear weapons, attacking critical infrastructure that controls nuclear weapons, or other actions that threaten the existence of the state itself,” he listed the reasons for the use of nuclear weapons.
At the UN considerthat the risk of nuclear conflict has reached its highest point in decades. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation warnedthat NATO countries ignoring Russia’s red lines threatens nuclear war. In the ministry spokethat the scenarios of the collision of nuclear powers are again returned to the agenda of experts. As of January 2022, the leaders in the number of deployed nuclear warheads were USA (1744), followed by Russia (1588).
