Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev proposed comparing the scale of rallies in support of Palestine and pro-Ukrainian actions, publishing two photographs – from a large rally in Istanbul and one of the demonstrations in support of Kiev, which depicted about a dozen people.
“Feel the difference (rallies for Palestine and country 404),” – wrote Medvedev, meaning the Ukrainian state by “country 404”.
A rally in support of Palestine took place in Istanbul the day before, October 28. According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the action attracted 1.5 million participants. When and where the small meeting in support of Ukraine took place, Medvedev did not specify.
After the start of Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip, which followed the attack by Hamas militants on the Jewish state, Medvedev more than once spoke out about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In particular, he spoke about the fatigue of Western countries with Ukraine, and therefore they “with gusto” began to support Israel. Medvedev also expressed confidence that the ground operation in the Gaza Strip, which Israel had been postponing, would still take place, and it would have “the most severe and bloody consequences.”
