Medvedev discussed with the working group the optimization of Russian defense spending

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev chaired a meeting of the working group to verify the validity of pricing for military products. Following the meeting, he instructed the group members to optimize the cost of weapons in a short time. The meeting was broadcast on Mr. Medvedev’s page in “In contact with”.

“In the shortest possible time, it will be necessary to optimize the structure of the cost of weapons of especially popular weapons and other military equipment,” Dmitry Medvedev said at the meeting.

He noted that it is necessary to achieve “the maximum for every ruble of defense spending.” In this regard, he instructed to analyze expenses “in the most careful manner” in order to eliminate or minimize unproductive expenses. “To solve the assigned tasks, all necessary measures will be taken, including control visits to enterprises and relevant analytical work that should be carried out in departments,” concluded the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council.

The working group was created on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. Today’s meeting was attended by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, the head of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Egorov, the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense Tatyana Shevtsova, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Rosrezerv, and the Federal Treasury.
