Medvedev proposed that Ukraine introduce an article into the Criminal Code for preparing Olivier
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedvev proposed that Ukraine introduce an article into the country’s Criminal Code for preparing New Year’s dishes such as Olivier salads and “herring under a fur coat.” He voiced his thoughts in Telegram channel.
The day before, news appeared that Ukrainian activists had prepared petition, which proposes to ban the preparation of these two dishes in the country. Activists explained this idea by saying that Olivier and “herring under a fur coat” are part of Russian culture and thereby reduce the level of patriotism.
As a punishment, Medvedev proposed bringing Ukrainian citizens who prepare the above-mentioned salads to criminal liability and punishing them with a term of 3 to 7 years in prison or a fine of 1 million hryvnia “with the confiscation of the items of the crime.”
For such a “crime” committed “using his official position,” the ex-president of Russia proposed punishing Ukrainians with imprisonment from 7 to 15 years, and if such a thing was committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with life imprisonment.
As a “note,” the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council proposed releasing from liability Ukrainians who refuse to prepare Olivier and “herring under a fur coat,” and also agree to undergo “a course of forced treatment with Ukrainian borscht for three months.”
