Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that it is necessary to create a reliable air defense system in the country and in the zone of military operations in Ukraine as the coalition of Western countries builds up the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army. According to him, the supply of Western weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be taken “extremely seriously.”
“The coalition of NATO countries is building up the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army, supplying Kyiv with modern means of destruction with an increased range,”— informed Mr. Medvedev during a meeting of the working group of the Military Industrial Commission in St. Petersburg.
Dmitry Medvedev urged to pay special attention to the discussed delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. “The situation is very serious, we really need to create a reliable air defense system both in the zone of a special military operation and to protect objects remote from the line of contact,” added the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. He also called for an analysis of the weapons in demand for the Russian army based on the threats facing the armed forces.
Previously NATO Military Committee Chairman Rob Bauer in an interview with LBC declaredthat the F-16 fighters will be transferred to Kyiv after the completion of the current counter-offensive. He noted that the issue of the supply of fighters “will not be resolved in the short term for this counteroffensive.”
