Medvedev asked Rheinmetall for the coordinates of the future plant in Ukraine

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev asked the German defense concern Rheinmetall for the “exact coordinates” of the future plant in Ukraine. He wrote about this on his Twitter account.

“The leadership of the German concern Rheinmetall has confirmed its intention to build a plant for the production of tanks in Ukraine. Please send the exact coordinates of future work. Thank you,” reads the message of the Deputy Chairman, which he wrote in German.

Formerly CEO Armin Papperger in an interview with Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) answered to the question whether a tank plant in Ukraine is “an easy target for Russian missiles.” “Today there are armaments factories in Ukraine. Such objects can be protected. I suppose Ukrainians know how to do it,” he said.

In addition, the head of the company appreciated growth of the group’s market value in the coming years to 17 billion euros. According to him, now the company’s value is about 10 billion euros. Papperger also added that the manufacturer is currently negotiating the production of tanks, ammunition, and may soon start discussing orders for anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and aircraft.

Medvedev has already approached Rheinmetall after the announcement of the construction of a plant in Ukraine. He pointed outthat in the case of the construction of the enterprise, Russia will respond with a “salute from Caliber” and other devices. According to him, Russia “is looking forward to” the decision to build such a plant. Rheinmetall, in a statement reported by Reuters in mid-May, clarifiedthat the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the plant is scheduled for the end of June, the work of the enterprise should begin as early as mid-July.
