Medvedev announced the recruitment of 452 thousand contract soldiers since the beginning of the year – Kommersant

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev reportedthat from January 1 to December 1, 2023, 452 thousand people were accepted for military service under a contract in the interests of the joint group of troops. According to him, residents of Moscow, Chechnya and Sevastopol are the most actively concluding contracts.

“I would like to note the systematic approach of the leadership of a number of constituent entities of the federation, in particular the capital, that is, Moscow, Sevastopol, the Chechen Republic, to supplement the staffing of the joint group of troops with contract soldiers,” Mr. Medvedev said at the beginning of the meeting, which takes place as part of his working trip to the Siberian Federal District.

Dmitry Medvedev noted that more than 30 thousand residents of Chechnya are participating in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. More than 15 thousand residents of the region who signed up to volunteer were trained at the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes.

In August, Mr. Sobyanin reportedthat 45 thousand Muscovites are participating in the fighting in Ukraine: about 20 thousand contract soldiers and volunteers, 20 thousand mobilized, 5 thousand professional military personnel.

In June, Deputy Minister of Defense Nikolai Pankov notedthat a number of entities fulfilled the plan for recruiting contract soldiers better than others. Among the regions, he also singled out Moscow, Sevastopol and Chechnya.
