Media: Washington is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against Hungary in connection with Ukraine

The US presidential administration is considering the possible imposition of sanctions against Hungary in connection with its refusal to follow the general policy of Western countries regarding the conflict in Ukraine. The Hungarian online publication 444, which supports the Hungarian opposition, claims that the White House is developing measures to punish the Hungarian government, including the possible imposition of sanctions against influential people.
The Hungarian government has not commented on these allegations. However, Daniel Deak, a leading analyst at the 21st Century Institute in Budapest, notes that the Biden administration plans to impose sanctions on Hungary for its position, which is not in line with US policy. Washington also demands that Hungary renounce all economic ties with Russia and join those countries that support the confrontation.
In 2014, the United States imposed a ban on the entry into the country of several Hungarian citizens suspected of corruption. According to edition 444, similar measures may be applied in the future. Such actions by the White House could have negative consequences for economic ties between Hungary and the United States.
