Media: UAE will limit re-export of a number of goods to Russia

The European Union (EU) has informed member countries that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has agreed to restrict the re-export of certain goods to Russia. About it writes Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the situation.
According to the agency’s interlocutors, Türkiye is also considering similar measures.
The UAE official said in a statement that the UAE restricts the export and re-export of identified dual-use items and has an export control legal framework through which ongoing monitoring is carried out.
Bloomberg clarifies that after the EU and its G7 allies banned the export of these goods to Russia, Moscow managed to circumvent the restrictions by importing them through third countries – Central Asia, as well as Turkey, the UAE and other countries.
In June, the EU, as part of the 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions, announced on June 23 the creation of a phased mechanism of restrictions against “third countries” that allegedly help Russia circumvent restrictions on a number of technologies and goods, including dual-use ones. Such bans will be introduced if restrictions against individuals have not taken effect, and cooperation with a “third country” does not produce the “expected results.” If sanctions evasion continues to be “significant and systemic,” Brussels intends to introduce secondary restrictions against entire jurisdictions for the first time in its sanctions practice.
