Republicans in the US Congress opposed the idea of combining financial assistance to Ukraine and Israel into one package. About it reported NBC TV channel.
In a commentary on NBC, some Republicans said they were skeptical of the idea. In particular, member of the House of Representatives from Georgia Marjorie Taylor Greene noted that the situations in Ukraine and Israel are completely different. “Our government finances the government of Ukraine, finances a proxy war with Russia. Israel has its own government. Israel defends itself. Two separate problems,” she clarified.
On October 10, NBC, citing sources, reported that the White House and a number of US Congress lawmakers are considering the opportunity to combine requests for additional funding to Ukraine and for assistance to Israel. It was reported that lawmakers who support further aid to Kyiv hoped to overcome opposition on this issue from some Republicans in the House and Senate.
Earlier, John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, said during a briefing that the United States considers it important to provide assistance to both Israel and Ukraine. He stressed that the administration will seek additional assistance to Kyiv, and added that, if necessary, it will apply for additional funding for Tel Aviv.
