Media reported on the first report of Ukraine to the United States on the use of cluster munitions

Kyiv submitted to Washington the first report on the use of cluster munitions. About it informs CNN, citing an unnamed Ukrainian official.

In the report, Ukraine reported on the number of shells fired, as well as on the targets hit. The interlocutor of the TV channel refused to give specific figures.

On July 7, the White House announced the transfer of cluster munitions to Kyiv. Washington said Ukraine had provided the United States with written assurances that the ammunition would be used “with care.” In addition, one of the conditions for the transfer was the provision of reports on the use of weapons.

July 13 at the Pentagon declaredthat the ammunition is already in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry considered such a step a “gesture of desperation,” and Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, stressed that the transfer of cluster munitions would not affect the course of the special operation. The Kremlin warned that if Ukraine uses such weapons, Russia will be forced to take countermeasures.

July 20 White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby confirmedthat the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to use cluster munitions. The first reports of shelling of territories under Russian control appeared in the media on 11 July. Then TASS and RIA Novosti, citing emergency services, wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Tokmak in the Zaporozhye region.

July 16 on the strike of cluster munitions on Lugansk informed retired Lieutenant Colonel of the People’s Militia of the LPR Andrey Marochko. July 22 Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation statedthat the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at a group of journalists, as a result, the RIA Novosti military commander Rostislav Zhuravlev died. In early August, Ukraine attacked Donetsk with cluster munitions several times.
