Media reported Israeli strikes on Damascus and Aleppo airports

Israel attacked Damascus and Aleppo international airports in Syria, writes Syrian agency Sana.

Citing a military source, the publication reports that Israel carried out missile attacks on airports on the afternoon of October 12 at approximately 13:50 local time. As a result of the attack, the runways were disabled. No casualties were reported.

Reuters notesthat Israel has previously carried out strikes on targets it considers associated with Iran, including airports in Syria. The agency’s source clarified that such attacks are being undertaken to disrupt Iranian supplies to Syria, where Tehran’s influence has increased. It is noted that the attack on October 12 was carried out before the arrival of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Iranian Foreign Ministry today reportedthat the minister had arrived in Baghdad.

At the same time, Al Jazeera clarifiesthat the missile attacks on airports were carried out several hours after negotiations between the Iranian President and the Syrian President.

On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas began military operations against Israel. The Israeli Army (IDF) announced the launch of Operation Iron Swords; the government announced that the country had entered a state of war. The number of victims of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has exceeded 2,400 people.

On the eve of the IDF stated about launching an artillery strike on Syrian territory in response to missiles launched from there. The defense ministry did not name the number of missiles launched, noting that some of them reached Israeli territory and fell in open areas.
