According to the publication, Russia allegedly tried to buy Chinese drones under the guise of heavy-duty sprayers, which are used for the garden and on large farms. The “camouflaged” equipment was found by customs officers near the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
According to the journalist of the publication, the identity of the buyer is a Russian company that purchased the specified product in early May for almost $14,000 for each drone.
The Washington Post, based on publicly available documents, claims that the total volume of Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Russia increased sharply in 2022, increasing by 250%. We are talking about, among other things, optical sights for rifles, which this country has never exported to Russia before.
The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Washington, in response to a request from the publication, stated that the country’s leadership is committed to complying with international norms and curbing smuggling and other illegal trade. Commenting on the increase in trade with Moscow, the embassy attributed this to the improvement of electronic systems for tracking the flow of goods across the country’s borders.
