Media: Israeli tanks blocked a key Gaza highway

IDF tanks reached the outskirts of Gaza City and blocked the key road leading from north to south of the besieged Gaza Strip – Salah al-Din Street. About it reports Al Jazeera channel citing sources in Palestine.
Palestinian sources said Israeli tanks had blocked a street about 3 km (1.8 miles) from the Gaza fence and were firing at any cars that tried to drive through it.
Later, the head of the Hamas government office in Gaza, Salama Maarouf, said that Israeli tanks had retreated from the outskirts of Gaza City.
Since 27 October, Israeli forces have stepped up their ground offensive as part of a military response to the Hamas attacks of 7 October. Since the beginning of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, according to Israeli officials, 1,400 people have been killed, mostly civilians, and another 239 people have been captured. Gaza’s health ministry reports more than 8,000 deaths, more than half of them children.
