Media: Hungary froze Russian assets for almost 900 million euros

The volume of Russian assets frozen by Hungary in November amounted to 870 million euros, writes local newspaper Nepszava, citing a European Commission report.
As emphasized by the publication, a month ago, Hungary reported on the freezing of only 3,000 euros.
According to the EC, Italy froze Russian assets worth 2.3 billion euros, Germany – 2.2 billion euros, Austria – almost 1.8 billion euros.
Former European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suggested create a structure for managing Russian assets. According to her, the blocked funds of the Russian Central Bank and the assets of Russian oligarchs confiscated due to sanctions should be combined into a fund, the funds of which should be invested, and the profit from these investments should be used for compensation payments to Ukraine.
The head of the EC specified that Western countries blocked 300 billion euros of reserves of the Central Bank of Russia and 19 billion euros of private funds of Russian businessmen.
Later, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that Brussels was trying to steal Russian assets by legitimizing illegal sanctions against Russia.
