Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss received payments of around $115,000 for a visit to Taiwan in May. About it reported edition of Taiwan News.
The ex-premier received this amount from the Taiwanese Foreign Ministry and from the Prospect Foundation. According to the publication, the fund paid Truss about NT$3.1 million ($101,000), while the island’s foreign ministry paid her an additional NT$395,000 ($13,000).
Truss entered UK history as the shortest-serving prime minister of just 50 days (September 6 to October 25, 2022). She resigned due to the failure of her economic recovery plan, which led to a sharp fall in the pound.
On October 25 last year, King Charles III of Great Britain accepted the resignation of Truss from the post of Prime Minister of the country. During her three-minute farewell speech, she called for lower taxes, continued support for Ukraine, and wished her successor good luck. Rishi Sunak became the new head of government.
