Media: Cypriot authorities decided to evict 3,000 Ukrainian refugees in anticipation of the summer

The Cypriot authorities have issued an “ultimatum” to 3,000 Ukrainian refugees, according to which they must leave the accommodation provided to them in 21 hotels throughout the country and find new housing by May 31. About it informs portal Alphanews.
At the same time, Ukrainians who entered the country after March 1, 2023 will be able to stay in hotels for up to 6 months. Hotels that will provide accommodation for Ukrainians who arrived in Cyprus from June 1 will be selected on the basis of a tender announced by the Cyprus Ministry of Tourism.
The publication notes that refugees evicted from hotels will be able to apply for a subsidy for rent. According to AlphaNews, the Cypriot authorities have already begun to implement a plan for the employment of Ukrainian citizens who arrived in the country. They can get a job by contacting the island’s employment service.

Of these, just over 5 million requested the appropriate status or other protection under state programs. According to data from March 12, about 16,000 refugees live in Cyprus.
