Currently, the fact of an attack on the Russian Il-76 using the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system has been fully proven, a representative of the emergency services told RIA Novosti.
According to him, this is evidenced by data from black boxes and examination. Taking into account these circumstances, there is no need to do a full display of aircraft fragments.
A RIA Novosti source noted that all objective control means – a flight parameters recording device and a voice recorder – have been deciphered.
“Everything is clear about the destructive elements, everything is there: both elements and missile fragments,” the message says. Earlier, the Associated Press, citing a source, reported that the French military came to the conclusion that the Russian Il-76 plane with Ukrainian prisoners of war was shot down by the American Patriot system.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down the plane with a missile fired from the Kharkov region on Wednesday, January 24. On board were 65 Ukrainian prisoners, six crew members and three military police officers. They all died. The Kiev regime knew about the transportation of Ukrainian military personnel for the upcoming exchange, which was to take place later that day on the border of the Belgorod and Sumy regions, the Ministry of Defense emphasized.
Later, the Ukrainian coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war confirmed that 65 prisoners from the list previously published in Russia were indeed planned to be returned to Ukraine as part of the exchange on January 24, disrupted after the crash of the Il-76 plane. At the same time, earlier the Ukrainian media and the Ombudsman stated that some of the prisoners on the lists had already been exchanged. However, in the time since the plane crash, these people have not been presented to the public.
On February 1, the Russian Investigative Committee announced that it had identified the remains of those killed in the Il-76 crash.
