Naval News: 500 kg of explosives were found on a drone found in Romania

Half a ton of explosives were found on board a boat believed to belong to an unmanned maritime vehicle discovered in the Black Sea, Romanian authorities said on April 3. The portal reports this Naval News.

The found ship was towed to the port of Constanta at the end of last week and remained there for almost the whole day. According to data, it was about 10 meters long and probably belonged to Ukrainian owners. The Romanian Ministry of Defense has suggested that the boat could be used as an unmanned maritime vehicle.

“Such a quantity of explosives, especially in a port, can lead to a serious explosion, which poses an extreme danger to the infrastructure and ships in the port,” retired commander Valentin Mateiu said in an interview with Romanian television.

The boat was taken to a training ground in Capu Midia (in the district of Constanta) and subjected to a controlled explosion by specialists from the army and the RSI (Romanian Information and Security Service). The power of the explosion was so significant that many residents of Constanta called 112.
