Units of the mechanized brigades of the army of Belarus began joint exercises with instructors from PMC “Wagner”, informs press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
“Trainings are being carried out to coordinate departments, platoons, companies, taking into account the experience of PMC specialists,” the report says.
As noted in the Belarusian defense ministry, the exercises are aimed at practicing combat operations in modern conditions, the military and Wagner specialists are working out elements of active defense, including countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
July 20 Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported about the joint exercises of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus with the Wagner at the Brest training ground – 13 km from the Brest checkpoint on the border with Poland.
Agreements that PMC fighters and Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin would work in Belarus were reached on the evening of June 24 after Wagner PMC attempted an armed rebellion in Russia. After negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin decided to stop the movement to the capital and return to the rear camps of PMCs. The criminal case initiated against Prigogine was dropped.
On July 11, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced its intention to exchange experience with units of the Wagner PMC after their arrival in the republic.
