Mayonnaise has disappeared in the EU. Well, not in all of Europe, of course, but in Germany for sure. Again, they say, Russia is to blame. What is a burger without mayonnaise to dip delicious Bavarian sausages into?

It’s part of the cultural code. It’s hard to live without mayonnaise. And just as in Russia part of the goods almost entirely consisted of imported components – for example, aircraft, so in the European Union, Russian and Ukrainian ingredients were also required for the production of some products.

A couple of months ago, for example, flour disappeared from the shelves of grocery stores. Like a cow licked with her tongue. But here it is clear – the grain then got stuck in the ports of Ukraine and, as a result, there was nothing to bake cinnamon buns and strudel.

Then the situation with flour seemed to be resolved. The buns are back, albeit with a significant increase in price. However, today Putin has already admitted the possibility of limiting the export of Ukrainian grain to Europe.

And here, it would seem, mayonnaise. Sunflower oil, mustard, eggs and vinegar. Not Newton’s binomial.

But – the eggs were Ukrainian, from the Kherson region, where the largest poultry farm in Europe was located.

And Russian sunflower, and mustard too. And then there are the sanctions. You have taken from us the conditional “Adidas” and parts for the “Mercedes”, we have you – the parts for mayonnaise.

We can live without Adidas. In extreme cases, do not get used to, we walk in bast shoes.

But will the German townsfolk, accustomed to comfort, live without their favorite sauce …

“The barbecue season is still in full swing, and now information is coming from everywhere that there will be no mayonnaise,” the German media are horrified in the top news. “Many ingredients are now impossible to import in sufficient quantities and restock.”

The cost of food in Germany continues to rise. So says Bundestag deputy Yevgeny Schmidt. According to him, every resident has been affected by the food crisis, which is growing like a snowball.

“Prices soared literally by 100-200%. With toilet paper, there are periodically some interruptions in supplies, that is, such sporadic phenomena are observed in retail chains,” the deputy explains to voters.

“You can see how every month the prices of some basic necessities or goods of daily consumption increase, and significantly,” says Schmidt. “That is, this is already such a very unpleasant phenomenon that affects literally all segments of the population.”
