Maya Kucherskaya: “There is nothing to read about today”
[ad_1]
Maya Kucherskaya is one of those writers who equally successfully combines literature with philology. Apparently, it is no coincidence that the “Big Book” was brought to her by the biography of Nikolai Leskov “The Missed Genius” (2021), which is equally scientific and artistic. Kucherskaya’s first success as a reader came even earlier, in the mid-2000s, together with Sovremenny Paterikom. This is a collection of funny stories with the characteristic subtitle “Reading for the Downcast.” The novel “Aunt Motya” in 2013 was shortlisted for the Big Book and Yasnaya Polyana awards.
In addition to science and prose, Kucherskaya is actively involved in teaching. She is the initiator of the Creative Writing School literary workshops and the master’s program “Literary Excellence” at the Higher School of Economics, where acting writers prepare their shifts.
