The head of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, believes that there is no need to include a single ideology in the country’s Constitution. She spoke about this in an interview TASS.
She stated that all the discussions being held around the possible addition of ideology to the highest legal act of the state are a “fashionable philosophical trend.” However, she believes that such a discussion is useful.
“If you mean a single, national, political ideology that everyone must obey, then I am against such an ideology being enshrined in the constitution,” Matvienko said.
The head of the Federation Council of Russia recalled that the Russian document states that the state is democratic, therefore a multi-party system is assumed. She recalled that the Constitution does not prohibit ideology, but advocates diversity.
