On Monday, May 15, the British company Op-Fortitude filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of Los Angeles against director Martin Scorsese and his company Sikelia Productions. This publication reported The Blast.
Op-Fortitude, which was created specifically to film the film about Operation Fortitude during World War II, said that in January 2022 Mr. Scorsese agreed to help with the selection of actors and director “category A” for this film. The company paid him $500,000, but in the end he did nothing and refused to return the money in response to the company’s demand.
“In the 15 months that have passed since the agreement, Mr. Scorsese did nothing to produce this film and did not respond to Op-Fortitude’s repeated attempts to contact him,” the company said. At the same time, representatives of the director repeatedly promised Op-Fortitude that he would be engaged in the selection, and asked not to terminate the contract yet. Now the company requires the director to return $ 500 thousand, as well as compensation for breach of contract and legal costs. Representatives of Mr. Scorsese did not comment on the case.
“Operation Fortitude” was undertaken by the Allies in 1944 to misinform the German army and divert attention from the impending Allied landings in Normandy.
