The Ministry of Culture of Russia announced the action “Common Stage”, and one of the first to take part in it was the Theater. Evgeny Vakhtangov. He is handing over the costumes of his legendary performance “Chasing Two Hares” to the Mariupol Theater.
– This performance was released in 1998 and ran for more than 20 years, was incredibly popular with the public, the main role was played by Maria Aronova, – said theater director Kirill Krok. “Today, all those costumes that have survived in good condition are being transferred to the Mariupol Theater. We have great hope that he will certainly appear in the repertoire of the Mariupol Theater. As soon as he resumes his work, we will be ready to transfer large decorations there.
The director of the Russian Academic Theater in Mariupol, Igor Slonin, said that under the shelling of the city, all the scenery and costumes were burned down, and now the theater is starting to restore and collect everything.
“It takes a lot of time and a lot of money. And we are grateful to the Russian Federation and the Vakhtangov Theater for giving us these costumes. The production of “Chasing Two Hares” has already been staged on the stage of the Mariupol Theater, and we will revive it with pleasure and show it to the residents of Mariupol, as they deserve to be distracted from what is happening.
In the fall, Vakhtangovskiy is going to go on a “Great Tour” to four cities in the new territories of Russia, where he will show several performances.
– The Vakhtangov Theater has always been with its country, – continues Kirill Krok. – Last year, we were happy to host children who came from combat areas at our performances … When the Second World War began, and in July 1941 a bomb hit Vakhtangov, part of the theater was transformed into the Front Branch, which passed the roads of war. And on the fees from the sale of tickets, when the theater played in the evacuation in Omsk, a fighter was built.
