Retired Lieutenant Colonel NM LPR Andrei Marochko said that, according to intelligence data, the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to suffer non-combat losses due to the use of low-quality ammunition with existing defects.

According to him, the artillery units of the armed forces of Ukraine received shells for Soviet types of artillery systems of 120, 122 and 152 mm caliber, fired in Western countries in the period from 2022 to 2023. In the course of their use, marriage was revealed, so the soldiers were forced to sort out the ammunition manually before use, which seriously affected the effectiveness and rate of fire of the artillery of the Ukrainian troops, the officer shared the details.

The Ukrainian army has already recorded cases of non-combat losses due to the use of defective shells that exploded directly in the bore, Marochko summed up.
