On Tuesday, the acceptance of applications for the fifth Kremlin personnel competition “Leaders of Russia” began, in which everyone with managerial experience can take part. According to Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, this year the importance of participating in the competition is especially evident against the background of the “economic war” against Russia and rapid changes around the world, “sitting out” during which is a real mistake. Whether the program will somehow reflect the theme of the special operation, Mr. Kiriyenko did not specify, but said that the winners and finalists of previous years are already working in the governing bodies of all new subjects of the Russian Federation.

The Leaders of Russia is organized by the ANO “Russia is a Land of Opportunities”, created by order of Vladimir Putin, and this project, launched in 2017, is supervised by the domestic political bloc of the presidential administration. The winners of the competition get the opportunity to work with mentors from among high-ranking government officials and are included in the personnel reserve for subsequent appointment to various positions in the federal and regional authorities.

On April 4, Sergei Kiriyenko opened the call for applications for participation in the fifth season of the Leaders of Russia contest live on the Rossiya 24 TV channel. It will be possible to apply until May 14 on the official website of the competition. According to Mr. Kiriyenko, the importance of participating in this particular season of the Leaders is due to the rapid changes taking place in the world. “Everything that is happening now is global changes in the world, and they cannot be waited out,” the first deputy head of the administration noted. In his opinion, “sitting out” during such processes is a big mistake, so it is necessary to participate in the management of these changes.

Another reason to participate in the new season is a request for talented managers who can help the country during the “economic war” against the Russian Federation, Sergei Kiriyenko added. “They tried to crush us with sanctions, they did not succeed. But we must remember that this is a long fight. This is a question of our country’s competitiveness,” he said.

The competition is open to Russians and foreigners under the age of 55 with at least two years of management experience. General Director of the ANO “Russia – the Land of Opportunities” O. Rector of the RANEPA Alexei Komissarov said that, according to statistics, more than a third of the participants in the “Leaders of Russia” are representatives of small businesses and start-up entrepreneurs, and about 15% are leaders of large and medium-sized businesses.

Last year, 106 people became winners of the competition. At the same time, as Kommersant reported, several mentors at once admitted in conversations with reporters that they had either discussed or were ready to discuss with the participants in the competition the prospects for working in the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

Opening the fifth season, Mr. Kiriyenko said that the winners and finalists of previous years are already working in the governing bodies of all four new constituent entities of the Russian Federation. In addition, they are present as volunteers in the special operation zone, including at the forefront, work in military hospitals, etc. How will the theme of the special operation be used during the new competition and what opportunities will its participants have this year, the organizers of the “Leaders Russia” has not yet been announced.

Among the main prizes of the fifth competition is a grant in the amount of 1 million rubles. for training, the opportunity to meet with a mentor from among the leading Russian managers, as well as career advice and support. Foreigners who have become winners will be able to apply for obtaining Russian citizenship under a simplified system, and the finalists will be able to apply for a simplified residence permit in the Russian Federation. It should be noted that last year there were three foreign citizens among the winners of the competition – representatives of Estonia, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates.
